«NORTH AMERICAN NATIVES: PORTRAIT OF A CIVILIZATION»
This set of 8 photographs taken from the Library of Congress in Washington, USA, depicts portraits of people belonging to different North American tribes from 1903 to 1910.
Lakotes, Sioux, Blackfoot, anonymous people victims of colonialist, racist and genocide persecutions that we now want to honor and rescue.
The Association of of the Plaça del Nord in collaboration with EGM and Mecànic, have designed this ephemeral installation that can be visited during the Fiestas de Gracia from 15 to 21 August at Plaça del Nord.
WE ARE LANDSCAPES
As Agnès Vardà said, « Si on ouvrait des gens, on trouverait des paysages « (If we could open people, we would find landscapes).
Each one with all the complexities that nature conforms, all the neutral colors, complementary, shrill or swollen. Each one with an infinite depth and different. Each one with its roots and its climate.
Knowing our neighbors is also travel, understanding the world and the realities that surround us.
The Neighborhood Association of the Plaça del Nord and the Adjacent Streets has been revived this year, with the aim of discovering new worlds and knowing who the person with whom we cross on the stairs, take care of us and celebrate all together. A journey that has just begun and we know, that the future is the horizon.
Our common landscape is this square, which during the party of the neighborhood we decorate with this theme: North American Natives, owners of an ancestral wisdom and erased by the fear of the others. Reminding us that taking care of ourselves and others is the best antidote against fear. The fear of the other, of the unknown landscape, of discovering new realities and learning.
We encourage you to dance the rain dance with us and frighten all fears to show us all as we are: neighbors, daughters, grandmothers, beaches, forests, paths or beech trees.
